Stag Beetle Monitoring

Here in the country park we have great habitat for stag beetles, every year we walk the park throughout stag beetle season (May to July) when they are most likely to be seen in the hope that we manage to get a record of them in the park. We are also asking for public sightings.

Hopes were raised when I saw this stag beetle walking along the path this week, however closer examination revealed it was a Lesser stag beetle ( Dorcus parallelipipedus). Not the Stag Beetle we are looking for but still a great find, and great to know we have them in the park, the sighting was recorded on https://irecord.org.uk/
